Dorset hosts a variety of events of all sizes throughout the year. Our Community Resilience Liaison Officer (CRLO) can attend to promote community resilience locally
Invite the CRLO to your Community Event
The CRLO would really like to attend your community event; these can be indoor or outdoor events throughout the year. Please contact her, via the Send us a message box, at the bottom of this page, to discuss your thoughts and requirements.
CRLO Talks and Presentations
Personal, community and societal resilience are relatively new concepts that might be unfamiliar to many people.
The CRLO will be delighted to visit you in your community or engage in an online meeting, to talk to individuals, groups, town and parish councils about:
- Personal Resilience.
- Community Resilience.
- Winter and Summer Preparedness.
- Understanding local risks near to you (such as flooding)
- Developing your own community Community Emergency Resilience Plan (CERP)
The CRLO works alongside your local Council’s Emergency Planning Team, and has contacts with other agencies, which can include more specialist subjects; presentations such as flood management and flood planning through the Environment Agency, and the understanding wildfire risk and wildfire planning through Firewise.
The CRLO also has an excellent contact within Rotary, who are able to visit and assess an individual households flood risk. Rotary UK & Ireland have developed flood packs to support communities who experience flooding. You can read more about Rotary Flood Packs here.
If there is something specific to your community that could effect your resilience, that you would like to gain advice on, or you would like to discuss; please don’t hesitate to make contact with the CRLO via the Send us a message box at the bottom of this page, and she will endeavour to find a specialist who can meet your requirements.
