Clare, our Community Resilience Liaison Officer, initially met with the Chickerell Town Council Facilities Manager on Friday 6th October 2023, to discuss ideas for how they could work together to help the residents of Chickerell become more prepared for and resilient to, risks and emergencies. This meeting resulted in the delivery of a community resilience presentation to the Town Council on Tuesday 17th October, during which Clare was able to explain her role and how she could further help residents and the Community. The Council Members were very interested in developing a Community Emergency Response Plan, in the future.
Following this meeting Clare was invited to attend the Community Pumpkin Party; an event organised by the Town Council, for community families to celebrate Halloween. This was a fantastic event and very well supported by the whole community. Clare, dressed in her very best pumpkin outfit, attended the event with her stand and an array of goodies and give aways, to highlight the importance of preparation and resilience and how younger people could get involved in helping their families to be more resilient.
During the Pumpkin Party, Clare met the Team who run the Chickerell Community Library, this resulted in Clare visiting the library with her stand on 2nd February 2024 to provide a very short explanation of her role and to offer some advice and guidance on becoming more resilient. This was a lovely event, held as part of a regular coffee morning, and a great opportunity to spread the resilience word to the regular library users. The library now has a number of Home Emergency Action Plan and Emergency Grab Bag leaflets, explaining how to be more prepared for emergencies in the home, so please pop in and pick one up.
